Mora, Minn. – (May 19, 2009)

Kanabec Hospital and Allina Medical Clinic have begun negotiations which could result in purchasing the Allina Medical Clinics in Mora, Pine City and Hinckley. The focus of the agreement will be to better serve the needs of our communities through the creation of provider-based clinics.

Provider-based clinic status will increase access and provide exceptional medical care to our communities through ensuring the financial health and stability of our organizations; strengthening and growing existing services to better meet community needs; implementing new services as they are identified and appropriate; and coordination of health care services in the Mora, Hinckley and Pine City communities.

A letter of intent and confidentiality agreement have been signed, but a binding agreement is not yet final.   If finalized, the Allina Medical Clinics in Mora, Hinckley and Pine City will become part of Kanabec Hospital's healthcare delivery network and will function as one integrated system serving our communities.   

This will be a very positive transaction.  With the acquisition of the clinics, Kanabec Hospital will be better positioned to meet the expanded health care needs of the community.  We look forward to a bright future and are committed to providing superb medical care to the many families in our communities. 

Agreements detailing how the partnership will operate are in review by both Kanabec Hospital and Allina Medical Clinic.  While all the details are still being discussed, communication to the community is of a primary concern. As such, as new and relevant details are finalized, information will be released to the public.
